Lettuces rank a close second to potatoes as the most popular fresh vegetable in the United States.

Lettuce consists mostly of water and is a cool treat. I suspect we prefer it because we like salad dressing! But next time, try your salad without dressing and enjoy the mild flavor of lettuce and the taste of the other items in your salad.
