September 8, 2006, Newsletter Issue #79: Insomnia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Tip of the Week

Insomnia is a common effect of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

Some people have gotten relief using calcium. Calcium works best in combination with zinc and magnesium. All are absorbed and used more efficiently if bound to organic molecules, such as lactose. For CFS insomnia, try 500 milligrams of calcium lactate an hour or two before bedtime. The timing -- magnesium in the morning, calcium at night -- is important, so donīt confuse them. The benefits of this combination are not instantaneous. It may take 6 to 8 weeks to refill your reserves for this solution to take full effect, but it has proved helpful in most cases of insomnia.
