January 26, 2007, Newsletter Issue #97: Pregnancy and Acupressure/ Acupuncture

Tip of the Week

Traditionally, using acupuncture needles during pregnancy is forbidden, because strong stimulation of these points can encourage uterine contractions, thus increasing the risk of miscarriage.

Acupressure is considered safe, however, finger pressure at any point during pregnancy should be GRADUAL and MODERATE. Before trying any acupressure exercises, consult your doctor to make sure there are no reasons to avoid acupressure.
