April 27, 2007, Newsletter Issue #110: Dietary Changes to Avoid Heart Attack

Tip of the Week

According to studies, the biggest single risk factor for heart disease is the amount of animal fat in a personīs diet. Cutting back on animal fats is the best dietary change you can make. Saturated fatty acids and dietary cholesterol are the worst culprits when it comes to raising blood cholesterol and increasing heart disease risk, so avoid them whenever possible.

The American Heart Association recommends that you limit your total fat intake to no more than 30% of total calories.
