January 15, 2010, Newsletter Issue #250: Running water

Tip of the Week

To help decrease the lead content in your drinking water, flush your tap water by simply running cold water until it gets noticably cold, usually 15- 30 seconds.

If your house has a lead service line to the water main, you may have to flush the water for a longer time.

To conserve water, fill a couple of bottles of water after flushing the tap, and use unflushed water to wash dishes or water plants.
