May 7, 2010, Newsletter Issue #265: Avoid the Cold!

Tip of the Week

The Common Cold, Clogged Nose, Runny Nose, Stuffy nose, and sniffles is a sign of a viral infection of the upper air passages, which causes the inflammation of the mucous membranes lining the nose and throat.

This can be prevented by avoiding crowded places where it is easier to catch a cold. Children are also often carriers of the common cold.

Keep healthy with a balanced diet and regular exercise.

If your eyes are itching; this maybe a sympton
that a cold is beginning, avoid rubbing them. If you do, avoid touching your mouth or nose as the virus is spread by contact with eyes followed by contact with the mouth or nose.
