Choose foods low in fat. Reduce total fat intake from 35% (the daily average for Americans) to 25% or less. Substitute sauces, cheese, ice cream, pastries, red meats, sausage, bacon or deep-fried items with salads, beans, whole grains, fishm, fowl, lean meat and low-fat yogurt.
