Chill Out for Food Safety: When you are transporting food in coolers, put the ice on TOP of the food, not below it. Cold air sinks, so putting ice beneath the food will not keep it cold enough. There are many handy freeze packs available. A plastic jug filled nearly full with water and frozen will help keep your cooler cool without a lot of mess. Take a cooler with you to the Super Market and put perishables such as frozen foods, meat, milk and eggs into it. Produce can go inside the cooler too, if there is room.
