Women with diabetes have the same risk of heart disease as men and have a 3-7 times greater risk then that of non-diabetic women.

Diabetics should reduce their dietary fat intake, engage in physical activity regularly, maintain a healthy weight, and communicate with their doctors to monitor themselves for signs of heart disease.
